About the Alliance
The Alliance for Home Dialysis promotes activities and policies that will facilitate treatment choice in dialysis care while identifying and addressing systematic barriers that limit access for patients and their families to the many benefits of home dialysis therapy. The Alliance was launched to continue the work begun by delegates at the National Summit on Home Dialysis Policy, held March, 2012 in Washington, DC. At that landmark national forum, leaders from the patient, clinician, industry and academic communities identified a range of concerns that currently hinder, and policy opportunities that can increase, appropriate utilization of home dialysis.
The Alliance operates largely through seeking consensus through two working groups— Accountability & Reimbursement and Accessibility & Innovation. These working groups drill down into the policy recommendations and considerations that emerged from the Summit, as well as others that may evolve, and plan an action agenda focusing on consensus around key priorities to improve the utilization of home dialysis.
